An instant shopping upgrade for a growing online store
Co-op launched its online grocery store in 2019, not long before pandemic lockdowns would spur an extraordinary increase in online demand. The consumer cooperative needed to scale instantly to deliver a high quality shopping experience to members shopping online for same-day delivery, and through hyper-local delivery partners, such as Deliveroo, Starship and Amazon.
Co-op turned to Algolia to power its search drop-down menu and its search results pages. With a “light touch” implementation, up-to-date stock data is sent to Algolia to ensure customers see what’s currently in stock. When products are unavailable, Co-op leverages Algolia Recommend to offer relevant alternatives.
Deployment took just 1 month and 7% of shoppers added items to their basket. Conversion rates from Recommend and Search rose by 13% compared to Search alone.
