Create Guides
Before you begin
To create guides, you need the Generative AI feature in your Algolia plan, and an index containing the product data you want to use for the guides.
Create with the dashboard
- Select Generative AI in the Algolia dashboard.
- Click Create index now to set up a new index for the guides

Click New Guide to begin the creation process.

Choose the type of guide you want to create.
You can create the following types of guides:
- Shopping Guide: a general guide for a category.
- Category Guide: a guide for a specific category, focusing on specific factors.
- Comparison Guide: compare multiple products side by side.

Specify the products you want to include in your guides by providing the product IDs or the category’s facet value, depending on the type of guide you decided to create.

Choose the tone of voice and language for the guide.
Guides only support English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and German. Choose one that suits the content language of your source index.

Add optional customisations such as keywords to be highlighted in the generated guide, or a custom prompt.
- A headline (title and description) will be generated for each guide. Select which of these guides you want to create. You can edit these guides, including the headlines, later in the process.

Click Generate to create the selected guides.
Edit the guide
Once the guides have been generated, you can edit their content directly in the guide detail page.
Next step
Once you’re satisfied with your guides, the next step is to integrate them into your site.
Before integrating, decide where the guide will be displayed on your website. Since integrating the guides requires coding expertise, you may need to collaborate with your engineering team. To streamline the process, see the implementation guides and use the UI components.
Once the guides are integrated into your website, you can manage and modify guides without coding. You only need to write code if you want to show the guides in other parts of your website.
