# Set up Algolia through the AWS Marketplace

> Set up your Algolia application from the AWS Marketplace for simpler procurement and billing.

You can set up an Algolia subscription through the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace
and pay your monthly Algolia bill through your AWS account.
This simplifies procurement and consolidates your platform costs.

This guide explains how to set up an **Algolia Grow (Pay As You Go)** subscription through the AWS Marketplace,
which includes a 30-day free trial, and a monthly free tier.

To learn more about Algolia's other subscription options,
see the [Algolia AI Search](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/prodview-oa4t6kv4xrurg?sr=0-1\&ref_=beagle\&applicationId=AWSMPContessa)
vendor page on the AWS Marketplace.

## Set up a new AWS Marketplace subscription

1. In the AWS Marketplace,
   go to [Algolia Grow (Pay As You Go + Free Trial)](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/seller-profile?id=8ad2c429-a002-4795-8a82-f4de093e49d0).
2. On the overview page, click **View purchase options**.
3. To create a new Algolia subscription, click **Subscribe**.

The first 30-days are part of the Algolia free trial.
After that, you will be billed through AWS for any usage exceeding the monthly free tier.
No payment is required at this stage.

1. Click **Set Up Your Account**.

   1. If you want to connect to an existing Algolia account,
      select **Already have an Algolia account? Log in**.
      Enter your credentials to log in.

   1) To create a new Algolia account,
      sign up with your **Google** or **GitHub**,
      or with your **Email** address.

### Link a new Algolia application to your AWS subscription

1. Click **Create a new Application**.
2. After AWS confirms the status of your subscription, select a region for hosting your new Algolia application. Ideally, select a region close to your server or your users, depending on your implementation. Click **Next**.

   <Note>
     If you can't complete your registration,
     you can return to this step by visiting **Manage Subscriptions** in the AWS Marketplace.
   </Note>

{/* vale Google.FirstPerson = NO */}

1. Confirm the details of your new application and click **I understand, let's go** to finish the setup.

{/* vale Google.We = YES */}

Your new Algolia application is now linked to your AWS Marketplace subscription.

### Link existing Algolia applications to your AWS subscription

In the AWS Marketplace, you can only link to new applications.

If you want to link to existing Algolia applications, follow the steps to [link to a new application](#link-a-new-algolia-application-to-your-aws-subscription) and contact the [Algolia support](https://support.algolia.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) team who can help linking it for you.

### Free trial and free tier

During the first 30 days of your new application,
you can explore Algolia's platform,
including Premium AI features.
The following usage limits apply:

| Resource           | Free trial limits |
| ------------------ | ----------------- |
| Search requests    | 1 million         |
| Recommend requests | 1 million         |
| Records            | 1 million         |

At the end of the trial period,
your Algolia application will automatically convert to the Grow for Marketplaces plan.
Any usage that exceeds the monthly free tier will be billed through AWS.
This free tier is identical to [Algolia's standard Grow plan](https://www.algolia.com/pricing/)
with the following monthly usage limits:

| Resource           | Free tier                           |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------------- |
| Search requests    | First 10,000 requests free          |
| Recommend Requests | First 10,000 requests free          |
| Crawls             | First 10,000 crawls free            |
| Records | First 100,000 records per hour free |

### Unavailable dashboard features for active AWS Marketplace subscriptions

For applications with an active AWS Marketplace subscription,
these features are unavailable in the [Algolia dashboard](https://dashboard.algolia.com):

* You can't add a credit card, ACH, or SEPA as a backup payment method for this application.
* You can't upgrade or downgrade this application directly in the Algolia dashboard.
* You can't use Algolia's Cost Management feature (use the AWS Cost Explorer instead).
* You can't delete your user or application.
  You must first unsubscribe on AWS (see Removing an AWS Marketplace subscription link from Algolia).

## Remove an AWS Marketplace subscription link from Algolia

1. Sign in to the [AWS Console](https://aws.amazon.com/console/) with your AWS Account.
2. Go to the AWS Marketplace and select **Manage your software subscriptions**.
3. Select the **Algolia Grow (Pay As You Go)** subscription that you want to cancel.
4. In the Agreement section, click **Actions**.
5. From the list of actions, select **Cancel subscription**.
6. Enter `confirm` and click **Yes, cancel subscription**.

<Note>
  If you cancel your subscription,
  AWS stops billing you for Algolia usage.
  Cancelling your subscription does not delete your data
  but further search requests will be blocked
  until you add a valid payment method.
</Note>

### If you already set up a backup payment method

Your usage is billed to your Algolia account according to Algolia's standard pricing,
using your preferred payment method.

To delete this application entirely, see [Manage your Algolia applications](/doc/guides/sending-and-managing-data/manage-indices-and-apps/manage-your-apps#manage-your-algolia-applications).

### If you didn't set a backup payment method yet

You must add a payment method on the Algolia dashboard.
For more information,
see [Which payment methods and currencies can I use?](https://support.algolia.com/hc/en-us/articles/4406981858065-Which-payment-methods-and-currencies-can-I-use).

## Marketplace pricing

Algolia reports your application's usage that exceeds your free tier every hour to AWS.
Because of this, some resources are billed differently to Algolia's standard pricing:

| Metric | Standard pricing | Grow for Marketplace |
| ---------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Search Requests**    | First 10,000 requests free.<br />Above that, \$0.50 per 1,000 requests per month. | Same as standard pricing.                                                          |
| **Recommend Requests** | First 10,000 requests free.<br />Above that, \$0.50 per 1,000 requests per month. | Same as standard pricing.                                                          |
| **Crawls**             | First 10,000 crawls free.<br />Above that, \$0.80 per 1,000 crawls per month.     | Same as standard pricing.                                                          |
| **Records**            | First 100,000 records free.<br />Above that, \$0.40 per 1,000 records per month.  | First 100,000 records free.<br />Above that, \$0.00055 per 1,000 records per hour. |

### Usage and tokens

Algolia reports your application's usage to AWS as tokens.
A token is a simple representation of US\$0.01 to inform AWS of how much to bill.
Tokens reported to AWS each hour are rounded to the nearest whole cent.
