We couldn’t be more excited to announce the availability of our breakthrough product, Algolia NeuralSearch. The world has stepped into a new reality of AI — chatbots, self-driving cars, drug discovery, and now search. Algolia is the only end-to-end AI search and discovery platform.
As some readers will know, AI search is usually powered by vectors and large language models (LLMs). As good as those technologies are, they’re simply not able to scale well enough for the kinds of real-world production workloads our customers have, and certainly not at an economically viable price that makes sense. Vectors and LLMs are large and typically require specialized databases and hardware.
To surmount these challenges, we have developed a new technology known as neural hashing. We use neural networks to hash, or compress, vectors to a fraction of their normal size while still retaining up to 99% of the information, and we do it without specialized hardware. Consequently, the performance and price of Algolia NeuralSearch is second to none in the industry. Algolia NeuralSearch combines both vector and keyword search into one product, and because of the speed/cost equation we’re able to apply both keyword and vector search to every query, delivering superior results.
By merging keyword and vector search results for every query, natural expressions are as well understood as brand name searches. Common queries, also called “fat head” queries, are as easily discovered as long tail queries. This unique combination improves both precision (accuracy) and recall (completeness) of each and every query. It virtually eliminates null-results searches. And, it opens an entirely new set of possibilities for companies to support question style searches, compatibility searches, symptom searches, and more … all without curating synonyms or rules.
Algolia is known for speed, and NeuralSearch is no exception. Each request goes through query processing, retrieval, and ranking often in less than 10 milliseconds! Customers have been blown away with numbers such as a 70% drop in null results and 17% uplift in search-driven conversion rates in just the first few weeks of beta testing.
NeuralSearch is available today on high-availability infrastructure around the world. It’s deployed through a single API alongside our extensive libraries of popular coding languages and free community-supported connectors; or you can leverage it through our Merchandising Studio and powerful dashboard.
Algolia NeuralSearch represents a watershed moment for businesses who want to offer a human-like search experience to their customers. The last 10 years have been an incredible run for Algolia, and I couldn’t be more excited for the next decade to come.
