Dynamic Facets

Dynamic Facets is Algolia’s automatic facet and facet-value reordering. It learns which facets (or filters as you may have heard of them as) real searchers use for each query or category and refreshes rankings every 24 hours, so the most relevant facets appear first—no manual curation required. 

• Better navigation: End-users see the filters most relevant to their intent at the top, making it easier to refine results and find what they need.
• Reduced manual effort: No need to constantly adjust facet orders; automation handles the updates, and overrides remain available for business priorities.
• Always current: Ordering adapts dynamically to actual usage patterns, with a daily refresh.

How it works

• Learns from usage: Orders facets and values by their historical selection frequency (from aggregated filter interactions).
• Zero added latency: Ordering is precomputed and included directly in the API response (renderingContent).
• Flexible frontend: Value ordering is provided in the response. Facet ordering can be applied automatically with InstantSearch Dynamic Widgets, or manually integrated into any UI.
• Data & freshness: Uses ~30 days of analytics; recomputed daily (≤24h old).
